Redistributables
A game won't start because a component is missing? I've gathered the Microsoft installers below. Let's first check which one your game needs.
Finding the required components on SteamDB
Not sure which redistributables to install? For a Steam game, you can check its SteamDB page to see the shared components listed for it.
- Open SteamDB, search for your game and open its page. Make sure you select the game itself, not a demo or DLC.
- Open the Depots tab, then look for the Redistributables table below the game depots.
- Read the component names in the Configuration column. For example, VC 2022 Redist refers to the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime. Other games may also list DirectX or .NET.
Then use the official installers below, choosing the version and architecture your game needs. SteamDB lists information; it is not where you download these installers.
This list concerns the Steam version. If the table is missing or empty, also check the game's requirements and its Redist or _CommonRedist folder: that alone does not mean it needs no additional components.
Downloads
Install the components and versions required by the game, not every package indiscriminately. Older games may require older Visual C++ packages as well. .NET Framework 4.8 is different from modern .NET.
x86 is for 32-bit applications and x64 for 64-bit applications. A 64-bit Windows installation can need both. The Visual C++ links download Microsoft installers directly.
