Koalageddon v2

Today I'm going to introduce Koalageddon v2 and show you how to use it.

Introduction

Koalageddon v2 provides an interface for installing and configuring SmokeAPI in Steam. Only Steam's Store mode was implemented. The tutorial below describes that historical interface; development stopped after Steam added detection of SmokeAPI.

The maintainer warns that Steam detects SmokeAPI in its process and that installing this project puts your Steam account at risk. Development is permanently stopped; do not treat this as a recommended current installation.

Do you need the DLC files?

An unlocker makes the game see the DLC as owned, but doesn't download its content. If the files are already included in the base game, unlocking can be enough. Otherwise, install the matching DLC files too; check the game's forum topic for its folder layout and version.

The v2 interface, step by step

This is a guide to the archived version, not a compatibility claim for the current Steam client. Read the maintainer's warning above before using its installation controls.

  1. Open Koalageddon v2 and select Steam in the sidebar. The implemented option is Store mode; the planned Epic, Ubisoft and Game mode entries are not completed features.
  2. Fully exit Steam before changing an installation. In Installation, check the process and installation status. Refresh status updates these indicators.
  3. Historically, Modify installation → Install downloaded the required unlocker and installed it into the client. Wait for the success message; if the archived download source is unavailable, the installation cannot complete normally.
  4. Configuration contains Default game status and overrides for individual game and DLC IDs. Reload configuration applies changes to a running Steam process. The required DLC files remain separate.

How to remove it

  1. Exit Steam and open Steam → Store mode in Koalageddon v2.
  2. Choose Modify installation → Remove. Check the success message and use Refresh status to confirm that the integration is no longer installed.
  3. Restart Steam, then remove the Koalageddon app if you no longer need it. Removing only the manager doesn't remove an already installed integration.
