DreamAPI
Today I'm going to introduce DreamAPI and show you how to use it.
Introduction
DreamAPI takes a different approach: it runs a local web proxy instead of replacing a DLL in each game. It was designed for Epic Games, Origin and EA Desktop. The project is archived, so these are its historical setup instructions.
Its proxy and root-certificate changes affect system trust. Do not install a certificate blindly; review the project's security implications and removal instructions first.
Do you need the DLC files?
An unlocker makes the game see the DLC as owned, but doesn't download its content. If the files are already included in the base game, unlocking can be enough. Otherwise, install the matching DLC files too; check the game's forum topic for its folder layout and version.

Now for the tutorial
- Download the Windows release from the project's Releases page. Choose the installer or portable package; run the installer, or extract the portable package into its own folder.
- Close the game and store client. Note your current Windows proxy settings before starting DreamAPI, especially if your connection already uses a proxy.
- Start DreamAPI. On first launch, it installs a mitmproxy certificate in the current user's trusted root store and sets the local proxy. This allows its proxy to inspect the supported HTTPS requests; read the project's explanation before this step.
- Leave DreamAPI running, open the supported store client, then launch your game and check the DLC. Its historical platform list doesn't guarantee compatibility with today's clients.
When you finish playing
Exit DreamAPI through its tray menu so it can turn off its proxy. If it crashes and your connection stops working, open Windows Settings → Network & Internet → Proxy and restore the settings you noted before starting it.
How to remove it
- Exit DreamAPI, then uninstall it or remove its portable folder. Verify that your usual proxy settings are restored.
- Open certmgr.msc → Trusted Root Certification Authorities → Certificates. Find the mitmproxy certificate installed for DreamAPI and remove it if you no longer use it. Do not delete unrelated certificates or a mitmproxy certificate needed by another tool.
